Located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Xizang boasts rare natural landscapes and a rich human history. This documentary narrates the tale of how traditional lifestyles and cultural practices in certain Tibetan regions have evolved in response to the pace of modernization. China’s economy has witnessed rapid growth over the past several years; however, in some remote areas of Xizang, significant challenges persist in ensuring a stable and widespread power supply.

Tibetan veteran Gegi Gunpei aspires to employ electric mills for highland barley processing. Dawa Luozhu, the custodian of the ancient Tibetan opera in the Himalayan village of Kejia at an elevation of 3,900 meters, seeks improved access to television, sound equipment, and rehearsal spaces for Tibetan opera enthusiasts. Meanwhile, Basang, an elementary school teacher in the mountainous region, strives to provide well-lit and warm learning conditions for children.

Enter the young power engineer Huang Xiaohong and his team, dedicated to realizing these aspirations. Their mission involves tackling a formidable power construction endeavor, contending with unpredictable snowstorms, safeguarding the delicate tundra grasslands, and erecting colossal steel towers in the swampy terrain at an altitude of 4,000 meters to establish power supply lines. This project has profoundly transformed the lives of the people it serves and stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication of all those who tirelessly contributed to its success.
