YAMANASHI – Koshu of Japan: Present to the world Japanese wines from their birthplace of Yamanashi, nurtured by the country’s unique history and culture
Mt. Fuji is a symbol of Japan and a World Heritage Site. It is located in Yamanashi Prefecture, the largest grape growing region in Japan and a wine-producing region.
The history of Japanese wine dates back to about 150 years ago. Two young men from Yamanashi traveled to France to learn winemaking techniques and started producing wines using Koshu, a type of grape indigenous to Japan.

Wines made from the Koshu grape and other wines produced in Yamanashi are nurtured by Japan’s unique history and culture, which gives them a taste that goes well with traditional Japanese cuisine.
Since 2010, wine makers in Yamanashi have been promoting their wines around the world, largely in the U.K. and France, and have started exporting them to these markets.
Please enjoy the taste of Yamanashi wines nurtured by Japan’s history and culture.
